Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson seems to break records on the daily, and he is close to setting another remarkable achievement this season.

Jackson is just 28 rushing yards away from becoming only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to accumulate 5,000 career rushing yards, with the other three being Michael Vick, Cam Newton and Russell Wilson (h/t Steve Zavala of A to Z Sports).

Given that Jackson has logged more than 28 rushing yards in all but two of his outings this year, it seems relatively safe to say that the signal-caller will enter 5,000-yard company when the Ravens head on the road to battle the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday.

On the season overall, Jackson has totaled 535 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, averaging 5.3 yards per carry in the process. He has also thrown for 2,441 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 69.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 100.1.

Many have Jackson pegged as an MVP frontrunner due to his production and Baltimore’s team success, as the Ravens are 8-3 and sit in first place in the AFC North.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Louisville, was selected by the Ravens with the 32nd overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He supplanted Joe Flacco as Baltimore’s full-time starter under center midway through his rookie campaign and has been the face of the franchise ever since.

Jackson has already made a couple of trips to the Pro Bowl and has also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection. Most notably, he won an MVP award in 2019 after leading the league with 36 touchdown passes and also racking up 1,206 yards and seven scores as a rusher.

The Pompano Beach, Fl. native put together a couple of rather subpar seasons in 2021 and 2022, but he has bounced back in a major way this year.
