The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to sign Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL media.

It’s a two-year, $16 million deal that could be worth up to $20 million with incentives. It features $9 million in guaranteed money.

The Ravens pursued a trade for Henry back at the deadline in October, but were rebuffed by the Titans. The general expectation was that they would also make a push for the star halfback in free agency, and sure enough, they came away with one of the top playmakers available.

While Henry may no longer be the same elite rusher from a few years ago, he remains a legitimate threat who should absolutely bolster Baltimore’s backfield.

This past season, Henry rushed for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He added 28 catches for 214 yards and made his fourth trip to the Pro Bowl.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was selected by Tennessee in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

After a couple of middling campaigns to begin his career, Henry broke out in 2018, registering 1,059 yards and 12 scores on the ground, logging a robust 4.9 yards per attempt.

Then, in 2019 and 2020, Henry took his game to the next level, leading the league in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in back-to-back years. He topped out at 2,027 yards and 17 scores in the latter season, earning his first and only First-Team All-Pro selection. He made the Pro Bowl both years.

After an injury-shortened 2021 campaign, Henry would land another Pro Bowl appearance in 2022 after rattling off 1,538 yards while reaching the end zone 13 times on the ground.

The Ravens went 13-4 and made it to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs this past year. Part of the reason they lost was because of a lack of weapons.

By adding Derrick Henry, Baltimore is going a long way in addressing that issue.
