The Baltimore Ravens could use some more depth in their receiving corps, and Cory Woodroof of USA Today thinks he has a potential solution. Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen.
Thielen has been very busy for the Panthers this season, logging 49 catches for 509 yards and four touchdowns through the first six games.
The thing is, Carolina is 0-6, and with the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline looming, Thielen seems like a prime candidate to be dealt.
Thielen is 33 years old, and while he is under contract through 2025, he obviously doesn’t fit the Panthers’ timeline.
As a result, Carolina could very well move Thielen while his value is high, and the Ravens would certainly represent a great destination for the veteran.
Baltimore could trade a 2024 third-round draft pick to the Panthers for Thielen, supplying Carolina with a valuable asset to put toward its rebuild while the Ravens land a very reliable wide out.
Thielen would thrive in Baltimore’s offense, as the club’s passing game features a lot of short and intermediate throws from Lamar Jackson. Jackson has always favored his tight ends for that reason, but Thielen would absolutely fit that mold.
The Ravens are currently employing a receiving groups that includes Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham Jr., Nelson Agholor and Rashod Bateman. Of that group, Flowers is the only one that has made any sort of legitimate impact this season. Beckham is barely even a shell of the receiver he once was, Agholor has never been anything more than a good No. 3, and Bateman has been a massive disappointment since being taken by Baltimore in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Adam Thielen would instantly become one of Jackson’s top two wide outs alongside of Flowers and would suddenly give the Ravens a pretty dangerous aerial attack.
Baltimore is 4-2, but its 24th-ranked passing offense could definitely use some work.
