Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs went into the season without a contract extension, meaning that Jacobs will be a free agent come springtime. With the Raiders just 1-2 thus far and hardly resembling a contender, the club could ultimately decide to move Jacobs ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. Should Las Vegas opt to deal Jacobs, the Baltimore Ravens could be a perfect fit.
The Ravens pride themselves on a strong run game, but with J.K. Dobbins now on injured reserve, the club could certainly use another halfback to bolster their ground attack.
Jacobs could be the guy they need.
Baltimore could send a 2024 second-round draft pick to Las Vegas for Jacobs, which would be a very nice return for a running back that the Raiders are probably not going to re-sign.
It has been a struggle for Jacobs early on in 2023, as he is averaging a meager 2.4 yards per carry through three games. He is also yet to reach the end zone.
However, we all know what Jacobs can do.
The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2022 campaign in which he racked up a league-leading 1,653 yards on the ground, scoring 12 touchdowns and registering a robust 4.9 yards per attempt. In addition, he caught 53 passes for 400 yards en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.
Jacobs has posted 1,000-yard seasons in three of his first four years in the NFL and would be a major addition to a Ravens offense that is already solid as it is.
However, in the tough AFC North division, Baltimore may need to add another piece to put it over the top, and Josh Jacobs may very well be the player who can do just that for Lamar Jackson and Co.
