The Chicago Bears are in an interesting spot heading into the final five weeks of the 2023 regular season. Coming off their Week 13 bye, the Bears were playing some of their best football of the season.
They have won two out of their last three games and had they not had a late-game meltdown against the Detroit Lions in Week 11, they would be on a three-game winning streak. Instead, their record is 4-8 on the season.
They have a very slight chance of making the postseason, only two games behind the Green Bay Packers for the last Wild Card spot. But, at the same time, they are also in the running for a top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, don’t expect the players on the Bears team to be thinking about a draft position in the final five weeks of the season. The players on the team believe they are close to a breakthrough.
During an appearance on The Insiders on NFL Network, Bears defensive lineman Justin Jones joined the show to discuss his Walter Payton Man of the Year nod and a rematch against the Lions in Week 14 which they will try and get some revenge from a few weeks ago. He also shared that confidence is on the rise in the locker room.
“I feel like we’re a team that’s on the brink here — just getting ready to burst,” Jones said when speaking to Tom Pelisserio and Ian Rapoport.

The Bears have been playing much better football since a brutal start to the season. Chicago lost their first four games of the season, but have played .500 football since that point. Their recent performance likely saved the job of head coach Matt Eberflus, who was reportedly on the hot seat had they dropped to 0-5 on the season.
Jones is one of the players who have helped spearhead that turnaround. In 12 games this season, he has 34 total tackles with seven tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, 12 quarterback hits and 15 total pressures.
