The Chicago Bears began overhauling the supporting cast around quarterback Justin Fields during the 2023 offseason. The biggest move they made was trading the No. 1 pick in the draft to the Carolina Panthers, receiving a haul in return.

Part of that haul ended up being the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which provides the Bears with another chance to make a big move. Another important piece that was acquired from Carolina was wide receiver D.J. Moore.

Moore established himself as a go-to weapon with the Panthers and was able to take his game to another level with the Bears. In his first season in Chicago, Moore set career highs across the board. He caught 96 passes for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, all single-season bests.

Recently, Moore has vocalized his support for Fields, whom many believe will be traded eventually. The chance to select a quarterback No. 1 overall, likely Caleb Williams out of USC, is too enticing in the opinion of many analysts to pass up.

Alas, regardless of what happens at the quarterback spot, Moore sees Chicago as a long-term home for him. While speaking to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, Moore revealed that he could see himself retiring as a member of the Bears organization.

“I would like to do at least five years here and then, shoot, maybe retire here. That’s always the goal,” Moore said. “I thought I was going to be in Carolina forever. I was there for five years, and I don’t want to be here shorter than that. I’m looking forward to that.”

Moore is under contract for at least two more seasons, likely keeping him in Chicago through at least 2025. Beyond that, anything can happen, but it is clear that he has enjoyed his time in the Windy City thus far and would like to continue it, if possible.

With plenty of cap space to burn, the Bears could look to work out a long-term deal with Moore if they want. His $16.05 million cap hit in 2024 and 2025 are certainly palatable, especially when taking into consideration the Pro Bowl numbers he produces.

Whether it is Fields or a rookie under center for the Bears in 2024, Moore will continue being a big part of the team’s offense. He is the unquestioned No. 1 target in the passing game and could have some new faces in his supporting cast as well.
