Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams probably didn’t ingratiate himself to the fans in the Windy City when he revealed that former Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers was his favorite player.

In a quick interview with Overtime, Williams was asked about Rodgers, and while he acknowledged that he is still a big Rodgers guy, he also sent a warning to the Packers in the process.

Williams and the Bears absolutely seem like they are coming.

Chicago selected the USC standout with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft late last month and is suddenly a trendy pick to make the playoffs in the NFC.

The Bears went 7-10 last season, but they have certainly made significant strides over the past couple of months.

Chicago has added plenty of weapons this offseason, swinging a trade for wide receiver Keenan Allen, signing running back D’Andre Swift and tight end Gerald Everett in free agency and also drafting wide out Rome Odunze with the ninth pick.

Keep in mind, the Bears already had receiver DJ Moore and tight end Cole Kmet in tow.

Williams will definitely have no shortage of weapons at his disposal going into his rookie campaign, and he also has a pretty solid defense backing him up on top of that.

Of course, doing damage in the NFC North won’t be easy.

The Detroit Lions and the Packers are two of the top teams in the conference, and even the Minnesota Vikings are no joke.

But Chicago certainly seems to be set up for success better than it has in years.

Williams is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he threw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 68.6 percent of his passes. He also punched in 11 rushing scores.

The 22-year-old began his collegiate career at Oklahoma in 2021, but transferred to USC the following season. He totaled 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns and five picks while completing 66.6 percent of his throws and reaching the end zone 10 times a rusher during his debut campaign with the Trojans.

Bears fans may not like Williams’ choice of favorite player, but they will quickly forget about that if the incoming rookie leads the club to what would only be its third playoff appearance in 14 years.

Chicago has also not won a postseason game since January 2011, so the franchise is long overdue.

We’ll see what Caleb Williams brings to the table come September.
