The Cincinnati Bengals have turned into a powerhouse in the AFC in the last few years. That transformation began when they selected quarterback Joe Burrow as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The LSU product provided the franchise with a foundation to build upon and they have successfully done that. Another one of the cornerstones that have helped them get to this level is wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase.

Chase was a standout at LSU with Burrow before reuniting with the Bengals when the dynamic wide receiver was selected No. 5 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Both are staking their claim to being the best player in the league at their respective positions as they picked up right where they left off at LSU.

Recently, both players were asked about who they thought the best player in the world was. Burrow believes that player to be Patrick Mahomes, the defending regular season and Super Bowl MVP.

Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs knocked off Burrow and the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game to get there, exacting revenge after Cincinnati defeated them the year before. There is a nice rivalry brewing there and Burrow believes until you beat the man, you can’t be the man.

Chase, however, has a different opinion. He had reporters laughing with how he answered the question, as he didn’t hesitate to say Burrow is the best quarterback in the NFL. Chase even took a funny shot at Mahomes in the process.

Burrow is certainly in the conversation for best in the world with how he has elevated his performance in recent seasons. His teammates clearly believe in him, but he is correct in his stance.

Until the Bengals can defeat Mahomes and the Chiefs and win a Super Bowl of their own, the best he can do is second place. Cincinnati has been on the cusp of a Lombardi Trophy the last two seasons and will be looking to get over that hump in the 2023 campaign.
