Browns Provide Brutal Injury Update For Deshaun Watson in Week 11

The Cleveland Browns started their Week 11 preparations for a huge game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with an odd update on starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson was injured in the second quarter of their Week 10 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, hurting his ankle.

The injury only led to him missing one play, as he gutted it out and helped Cleveland overcome a 15-point second-half deficit to steal a win away from their division rivals. Despite being in a boot after the game, Watson was adamant that he would be in the lineup for the next game against the Steelers.

However, the Browns weren’t ready to commit to that happening. They were doing their due diligence, gathering as much information as possible. It turns out, the ankle injury wasn’t the only thing Watson was getting tests done on.

In the first quarter of the game, Watson was hit and suffered another injury to his right shoulder. That had already sidelined him for multiple games this season and is now going to be the source of season-ending surgery.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Watson is set to undergo season-ending surgery for a broken bone in his right throwing shoulder. It is a brutal blow for the Browns, as tests determined that if Watson tried to play through the injury, as he was pushing to do, one more hit could have led to his shoulder falling apart.

The Browns, who are 6-3 on the season, will be turning back to P.J. Walker as their starter moving forward. Walker has not played well when called upon this season, but he is now tasked with helping get Cleveland into the postseason.

This is yet another hurdle for Watson and the Browns to get over since the team acquired him to be their franchise quarterback during the 2022 offseason. After missing the first 11 games of the 2022 campaign serving a suspension, Watson will now miss 11 in Year 2, this time because of injury.
