Bills’ Josh Allen Gets Brutally Honest On AFC East Title

What a wild ride it has been for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

In late November, the Bills were just 6-6. Not only did the AFC East division title appear out of reach, but their playoff hopes in general looked bleak.

Fast forward to January, and Buffalo is sitting pretty.

The Bills reeled off five straight wins to end the regular season, capped by a Week 18 victory over the Miami Dolphins to steal the division crown away in South Beach.

However, as amazing as the storyline sounds, Allen is focused on more significant goals.

“At the end of the day, this is fun, this is cool and never say no to winning a division. But the only thing that it solidifies is a home game and one more game,” Allen said, via Patrick Warren of the Bills’ official team website. “So it doesn’t mean anything if we go out there next week and don’t do our job, so we got to find a way to put our best foot forward and go find a victory next week.”

Winning division titles is nothing new for Allen, as he and the Bills have now captured the AFC East crown four years in a row. However, each of the first three times ended in heartbreak, with Buffalo losing in the Divisional Round of the playoffs the last two years and falling in the NFC Championship Game three winters ago. The Bills also lost in the Wild Card Round as a Wild Card team in January 2020.

At this point, finishing first in the division obviously won’t be enough to satisfy Allen, especially considering all of the talent that currently resides on Buffalo’s roster.

The Bills entered this season with Super Bowl aspirations, but over the first 12 games, they appeared to be anything but legitimate contenders, clumsily working their way to a .500 record.

While things certainly haven’t been pretty over the last five weeks, Buffalo keeps finding ways to win games, which will make Josh Allen and Co. a dangerous out in the postseason.

The Bills will host the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday.
