Exceeds 30 Combined Touchdowns
Moving the ball downfield wasn’t a problem for the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. There is room for improvement when it comes to getting the ball across the goal-line, though. As a team, they scored 38 touchdowns (T-18th) and while that isn’t terrible, there’s additional context to consider.
The main issues they faced occurred when they entered the red-zone as they scored a touchdown on just 45.3% of those possessions, ranking 29th in the NFL. It’s difficult to envision that experiencing significant improvement with Kyler Murray entering his second season.
One of the benefits of being a mobile quarterback is that it creates multiple ways to directly score touchdowns. However, it appears unlikely that Murray will experience a substantial increase in his rushing scores. He likely will finish around four rushing touchdowns again in 2020.
Where the greatest potential for Murray to experience an increase in his touchdown count is through his passing ability. In general, DeAndre Hopkins setting the tone will help the quarterback to get the ball into the end-zone, particularly in red-zone situations.
