Records 10 or Fewer Turnovers
It can be difficult for rookie quarterbacks to avoid turning the ball over frequently. In the case of Daniel Jones, he didn’t even appear in all 16 games and threw 12 picks while losing 11 of his 18 fumbles. Kyler Murray has some improvement to make, but wasn’t quite as bad.
It can be especially difficult for quarterbacks that turn up-field and take off as a runner to keep turnovers down. Between the risk for fumbles on those attempts and potential interceptions coming within the flow of a game on regular throws, it takes lots of skill to avoid these outcomes.
Murray did a decent job of limiting his picks (12) and lost fumbles (three) despite being an undersized rookie quarterback. That provides plenty of reason for intrigue when it comes to projecting a potential decline in turnovers during his sophomore campaign.
There’s a change Murray posts a nearly identical number of turnovers in 2020, but it appears more likely he experiences a decrease. Let’s not forget, Kliff Kingsbury will be in his second season as an NFL head coach with better talent, so that should help the QB experience more success. Overall, 30 touchdowns seems in play for Murray.
