Throws for Over 4,000 Yards
When looking at what Kyler Murray had to work in the Arizona Cardinals’ offense last season, it’s apparent they needed a true No. 1 receiver. Well, they brought in exactly that by trading for DeAndre Hopkins from the Houston Texans early in the offseason.
Murray ended up ranking ninth in pass attempts from a volume perspective with 542, he averaged just 33.9 (21st) throw attempts on a per-game basis. With the Cardinals having better pieces to execute Kliff Kingsbury’s Air Raid offensive system with greater success. Expect to see more passing volume.
There’s another factor to take into consideration, the Cardinals will be able to get the ball to Hopkins downfield for big plays and get him the ball in short-yardage situations. Both areas have the potential to provide Murray with a very noticeable boost in his passing yards volume.
Increasing his total from 2019 by almost 300 yards wouldn’t be an easy feat, but it’s one Murray appears capable of achieving. The supporting cast is much better equipped to enable better quarterback play and that’s something he will capitalize on.
