The Arizona Cardinals are a team that many people will be keeping an eye on in the 2024 offseason. In the first season under a new regime of general manager Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon, there was some stuff to like.

This wasn’t the strongest roster in the NFL, but the Cardinals played hard each week. They picked up some impressive victories along the way, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys this season.

The future is bright in Arizona, as they will have two first-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to continue building up their roster with. They own theirs and have one from the Houston Texans from a trade made during the 2023 NFL Draft.

The biggest question facing the Cardinals is what they will do at the quarterback position. Will the new regime retain Kyler Murray, who returned to the field this season after tearing his ACL in the 2022 campaign?

Gannon has said that Murray is their franchise quarterback moving forward, but things could change between now and April’s draft. A team desperate enough for a quarterback of their own could send the Cardinals an offer they can’t refuse in exchange for Murray.

The team would also save $5.6 million if Murray is traded ahead of the draft. There is a chance that Arizona lands the No. 2 pick in the draft, which puts them in a position to select a new quarterback of the future.

However, that isn’t the route that Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac believes they will go down. Ginnitti instead suggested that the Cardinals would make a blockbuster trade down the board with their eyes on Ohio State wide receiver, Marvin Harrison Jr.

Pairing Harrison with Murray as his No. 1 receiver for 2024 and beyond would elevate this offense to another level. The team moved on from veteran DeAndre Hopkins this offseason and there was a void in their passing attack, especially once Marquise Brown went down with an injury.

If the Cardinals land the No. 2 pick and don’t want to select a quarterback, their phone is going to be blowing up ahead of the draft with offers. This is an excellent class for quarterbacks and teams in need of a franchise signal caller will pay a premium to move up and select one.

That would provide Arizona a chance to add even more draft capital and high-upside young players to their roster, further building things up around Murry as their franchise quarterback.
