San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has become one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL over the past two years. He has become a household name and led the 49ers to the Super Bowl last year. Unfortunately, he was unable to knock off Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the big game.
Despite the loss in the Super Bowl last season, Purdy is scheduled to take yet another step in his development in 2024.
Throughout his first 25 NFL games, Purdy has completed 68.7 percent of his pass attempts for 5,654 yards, 44 touchdowns, and just 15 interceptions. His numbers show just a glimpse at what the future could hold.
One NFL scout spoke to NFL Analysis Network about Purdy and what the future may hold for him.
“I can’t say enough that Brock Purdy has so much more potential left to unlock. He’s already a superstar, but he’s nowhere close to his ceiling. If he ends up reaching his ceiling, Hall of Fame is the least of the accolades that he has the talent and ability to achieve.”
Those are glowing words that certainly spark even bigger thoughts. Fans have talked about the similarities between Purdy and Tom Brady. It’s too early to put him on that level of course, but it’s certainly there.
At just 24 years of age, Brock Purdy is playing with a football IQ well beyond his years. He’s a top-notch leader as well and his teammates love playing for him. That is a quality that is impossible to teach.
Looking at the future, the San Francisco 49ers are set up to be a favorite once again in 2024 in the NFC. The team will need to figure out the contract situation with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, but Purdy will be fine regardless of that outcome. He’s the kind of quarterback that can make any wide receiver he plays with better.
