Here’s How New York Giants Could Make Blockbuster NFL Draft Trade

The New York Giants are one of the more intriguing teams to monitor heading into the NFL Draft later this month.

Will the Giants take a quarterback? Will they draft a wide receiver? Will they go in a completely different direction?

New York owns the sixth overall pick, and many feel that the Giants should end the Daniel Jones era and select a signal-caller. The problem is, the guy New York may want might not be on the board by the time it is on the clock.

That means Big Blue could end up making a trade.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox envisions the Giants moving up in the draft, trading the sixth pick, a second-round pick and a 2025 second-rounder to the New England Patriots in exchange for the third overall selection.

This would allow New York to select either North Carolina’s Drake Maye or LSU’s Jayden Daniels as its potential franchise quarterback.

Of course, as Knox notes, this would depend on the Patriots souring on whichever of those two prospects are available at No. 3, and given New England’s current status under center, it would probably take a lot for that to happen.

Or, perhaps the Pats prefer someone like Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy and would be okay dropping down to No. 6 with the thought that McCarthy might still be there at that spot.

For the Giants, trading all of that to move up three spots might be a rather hefty price to pay, but if it means getting their signal-caller of the future, it might be worth it. They did it with Eli Manning, after all.

Jones’ time in New York may be running out. He signed a four-year, $160 million deal with the club last offseason, but it is not guaranteed beyond 2024.

That makes the move of selecting a quarterback in the draft much more palatable for the Giants, who could then get out from under Jones’ deal next spring.
