Forcing Turnovers on Defense
In 2015, the Panthers led the NFL in takeaways with 39 (24 interceptions, 15 fumble recoveries). They ended up playing in the Super Bowl that year.
This year, Carolina has 13 takeaways (nine interceptions, four fumble recoveries) in seven games to rank in the top 10 in that category. But they had three takeaways against the Ravens, so it’s clear that takeaways are a big part of their success.
Rookie cornerback Donte Jackson and veteran safety Mike Adams are tied for second in the league with three interceptions apiece. Additionally, the linebacking trio of Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis and Shaq Thompson as well as the Panthers’ formidable defensive line have the ability to wreak havoc on opposing offenses at any and all times.
The Panthers need to force some turnovers against the Buccaneers and keep their ever-improving offense on the field. Doing so will greatly increase their chances of moving to 6-2.
