Spreading the Ball Around
The Panthers’ offense was really humming last week. Not only did rookie wide receiver DJ Moore impress in his first start in place of the injured Torrey Smith, but others also played well.
In addition to Moore’s 90 receiving yards and 39 rushing yards, Christian McCaffrey was another standout for the Panthers. The second-year running back carried 14 times for 45 yards and caught four passes for 11 yards. He also found the end zone twice, once through the air and once on the ground.
Tight end Greg Olsen also had his best game since returning from injury, as he caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Curtis Samuel, Devin Funchess, Ian Thomas and Jarius Wright also caught passes for Carolina.
Quarterback Cam Newton also performed at a high level, completing 21 of 29 passes for 219 yards and two TDs. He was the Panthers’ leading rusher as well with 10 carries for 52 yards and a score.
If Carolina can continue to spread the ball around and keep everyone involved, it will make an already dangerous offense even more potent.
