It’s been a rough start to the 2023 NFL season for Bryce Young’s Carolina Panthers. After a 42-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 6, the rookie quarterback hasn’t led his team to a single victory, with a 0-5 record as a starter and a 0-6 record as a team overall.
To make matters worse, the Panthers held a 14-0 lead over the Dolphins in the first quarter but could not maintain control of the game. Young threw 23 of 38 for 217 yards and one touchdown, producing an encouraging performance.
“We’re all competitors,” Young said. “It builds up. It sucks where we at. … Again, it’s fresh and not where we want to be. We’re in a tough place, and it’s difficult, but there is no locker room, no group I would rather be here with, no group I have more confidence in to dig ourselves out of this.”

While there were moments when the Panthers’ offense showed meaningful stretches of productive play, Young isn’t happy just seeing flashes of production. He wants Carolina to establish a successful identity where producing isn’t a storyline.
“We have to earn the right to make it consistent,” Young said. “We have to earn the right to make sure that’s not a flash, it’s not a good couple series. You have to earn the right to make that be who we are and make that be our identity.”
