Matt LaFleur has made it clear that he wants the Green Bay Packers to bring in a third running back this offseason. While that may surprise some fans, it was clear in 2019 that he was trying to limit both Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams’ touches.
If Green Bay is truly serious about bringing in a third running back, they could look to the 2020 NFL Draft to find one.
CBS Sports has predicted that the Packers will find their third running back in the second round. They have projected Zack Moss to Green Bay in the second round with the No. 62 overall pick.
Green Bay did meet with Moss during the NFL Draft Combine in Indianapolis. It would make sense for the Packers to have interest in him in the second round. Moss could very well come into the league ready to take carries right away.
Last season with the Utes, Moss carried the football 235 times for 1,416 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also caught 28 passes for 388 yards and two touchdowns. Those rushing numbers average out to a solid 6.0 yards per carry.
Standing in at 5-foot-10 and 222 pounds, Moss has the body to be a workhorse in the NFL. He could come in and take some carries for the Packers. NFL.com currently has Moss compared to former NFL running back Marion Barber.
It will be interesting to see if the Packers pick up a running back this offseason. Moss could be the guy and taking him in the second round would be completely understandable.
