The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for the 2024 NFL Draft with a keen eye on bolstering their roster across various positions.

With quarterback Anthony Richardson leading the offense, acquiring another dependable pass-catcher is a top priority for the team.

According to a recent analysis by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, the Colts may pursue a first-round trade during the draft to secure additional offensive firepower. Knox suggests that Indianapolis is determined to provide Richardson with more weapons, potentially targeting the ninth overall pick in a trade scenario involving the Chicago Bears.

“Indianapolis has a serviceable receiving corps headlined by Michael Pittman Jr., However, he was the only Colt to top 800 receiving yards last season, and the team didn’t get a ton out of the tight end position. Here, the Colts make the jump from No. 15 to No. 9 to grab a pass-catcher before the Jets do. The Bears, who own just two selections outside of Round 1, add more capital in the middle rounds.”

With offensive coordinator Shane Steichen at the helm, the Colts have the opportunity to add one of the top receivers available in this year’s draft class. Players like Rome Odunze from Washington and Malik Nabers from LSU are mentioned as potential targets.

Both Odunze and Nabers bring exceptional playmaking abilities to the table and could make an immediate impact in the Colts’ offense alongside Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs. Additionally, Brian Thomas Jr., Nabers’ teammate, is also highlighted as a promising prospect who could thrive in Indianapolis.

Another intriguing option for the Colts is Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. Despite being classified as a tight end, Bowers possesses remarkable versatility and playmaking skills that transcend traditional position labels. With Steichen’s innovative offensive schemes, Bowers could emerge as a dynamic weapon capable of challenging any defense in the league, providing Richardson with a valuable target in the passing game.

As the draft approaches, fans of the Colts are eagerly anticipating how the team will approach their selections. Unlike previous years where the focus was primarily on securing a quarterback, this draft presents numerous possibilities for General Manager Chris Ballard and the front office.

Will the Colts strike a deal with the Bears to move up in the draft? If so, will they prioritize selecting a pass-catcher to enhance their offensive arsenal? These questions add intrigue to the Indianapolis Colts’ NFL Draft strategy, and fans will soon discover the team’s plans when the draft kicks off in less than a month.
