It is fair to question just how many if any, chances Antonio Brown has left in the NFL. It looked like he had finally found a long-term home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but following a bizarre incident in the game against the New York Jets, he was cut and back on the free-agent market.
Brown has now worn out his welcome with four teams in the last four seasons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders, who he didn’t even suit up for after constant problems in training camp. The New England Patriots took a shot on him after that, but his off-field issues were too much for them to overcome.
He must have made a lasting impact with Tom Brady because he vouched for Brown and pushed for the team to sign him after Brady landed with the Buccaneers. Brown spent eight games with Tampa Bay in 2020 and played well before re-signing with them during the 2021 offseason.
Once again he produced, but injuries kept him sidelined for multiple weeks. Upon his return is when the incident on the sidelines against the Jets occurred and now Brown is looking for another team.
Talent always seems to win out in the NFL and Brown has plenty of it. If there is a team that believes he will help push them closer to winning a Super Bowl, they will bite the bullet and take a chance on him.
Over at Sportsnaut, they are predicting that another team will take the plunge when it comes to bringing Brown in. The team they believe he will end up with is the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland could certainly use some help at the wide receiver position. Even after trading for Amari Cooper, the position is thin on depth. Jarvis Landry was a cap casualty, so the team has Rashad Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones behind Cooper.
Brown would slot into the offense opposite of Cooper, providing Deshaun Watson with two excellent weapons on the perimeter. With championship aspirations, there is no denying that Brown’s talent would be helpful for Cleveland. But, they would be taking a major risk given how fast he has worn out his welcome in other cities.
But, desperate to become winners once again, the Browns are a logical choice for a team to take a chance on Antonio Brown’s talent and hope that he can stay on the straight and narrow long enough to help them win some games.
