A familiar face has returned to the Dallas Cowboys’ lineup at Jerry World. Ezekiel Elliott, the former All-Pro running back, has inked a one-year deal with the team that initially drafted him, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This signing comes at a crucial time for Dallas, as they were facing a gap in their running back corps following Tony Pollard’s departure to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. The return of Elliott, a cornerstone figure for the Cowboys, is undoubtedly a boost for the team.

The news of Elliott’s return was met with jubilation, particularly from franchise quarterback Dak Prescott’s brother, Tad Prescott, who expressed his happiness on social media platforms.

Elliott, prior to his stint with the New England Patriots in 2023, enjoyed a stellar career with the Cowboys, establishing himself as one of the franchise’s standout running backs.

Since being selected fourth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by Jerry Jones, Elliott has amassed an impressive record, including four 1,000-yard rushing seasons and six seasons with over 1,100 scrimmage yards.

His partnership with Dak Prescott was instrumental in the Cowboys’ success, making them one of the most formidable quarterback-running back duos in the league. Under Ezekiel Elliott’s tenure, the Cowboys secured four playoff appearances and clinched three division titles in seven seasons.

Now at 28 years old, Elliott may not be the primary starter he once was, but he remains a valuable asset to the team. Despite posting career-low rushing yards last season, his versatility was evident with nearly 1,000 scrimmage yards and five total touchdowns.

Additionally, his proficiency in short-yardage situations adds depth to the Cowboys’ offensive arsenal.

With promising talents like Deuce Vaughn and seasoned veteran Royce Freeman also in the mix, the Cowboys’ backfield appears well-equipped for the challenges of the upcoming 2024 season.

Dallas fans are going to be excited to see Elliott and Dak Prescott team up in the backfield once again.
