Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is off to a terrific start this season, logging 15 catches for 220 yards over the first couple of weeks.

When asked about his early success, Lamb credited head coach Mike McCarthy.

“Mike is doing a great job of putting me in different places, lining me up, having me run different routes, showing my route tree and ultimately letting me play free. … I’ve definitely learned to just go out there and be myself, play my game and let the game come to me,” said Lamb, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Mike has done a great job of helping me with that.”

Lamb added that he doesn’t really have a favorite route to run.

“The whole route tree, honestly,” he said. “I don’t really have a favorite. It can be a double move. It could be a curl versus the right matchup or the right coverage, if you will. Love man-to-man coverage if that answers anything.”

CeeDee Lamb, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was originally selected by the Cowboys with the 17th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign, catching 74 passes for 935 yards and five touchdowns. He then made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances in 2021 and 2022, hauling in 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine scores in the latter season.

“I can see the defense,” Lamb added when asked about playing in the slot. “Corners can lie, but safeties are going to always tell the truth. Just seeing the coverage, seeing what they’re actually in, a corner can look to be in man-to-man and be in Cover 2, so actually seeing the defense for what it is, and seeing what Dak sees, just being on the same page, I feel I get a lot of information.”

The Cowboys will look to improve to 3-0 when they take on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday.
