The Dallas Cowboys are entering the 2023 season poised to be one of the top contenders in the NFC. After a solid campaign last year, the Cowboys once again came up short in the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers. Dak Prescott and company know that the window could be closing on their chances to win a championship with their current group.

Already gone is former superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott. There have been some rumblings that he could re-sign with the Cowboys for a team-friendly contract, but that move hasn’t been made yet.

Speaking of Prescott, the star quarterback is turning 30 years old at the end of July. Gone are the days of him being a rising star and now are the days of needing to win now. That is something that has not been lost on him, as he opened up about in a recent quote shared by NFL.com.

“One thousand percent. Just understanding injuries and what I’ve been [through] throughout my career and understanding that you don’t have forever to play this game. I’m blessed for every moment that I get. Just trying to take it with a sense of urgency.”

There is no question that the Cowboys have put together a talented enough roster to compete for a ring. Just this offseason alone, Dallas went out and acquired two key players in trades. Both Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks were added to the roster and should make a massive impact right away.

Jerry Jones has not shied away from spending big money and making trades to acquire talent. Now, it is all up to the players to perform on the field. Dallas will be expecting a big year from Prescott as well.

During the 2022 campaign with the Cowboys, Prescott completed 66.2 percent of his pass attempts for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 games. Unfortunately, he also threw 15 interceptions.

Dak Prescott needs to figure out a way to clean up the turnovers. That is one of the biggest keys to unlocking more from the offense. If he can accomplish that goal, the sky is the limit for an offense that is loaded with weapons.

Expect to see the Cowboys come out playing with a sense of urgency. Prescott isn’t the only one that feels that urgency to win right now. The whole roster knows how talented they are and the expectations are high, which should lead to a very interesting season in Dallas.
