Former Teammate Dismisses Major Bills’ Josh Allen Narrative

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has a tough road ahead of him going into 2024.

The Bills lost wide receiver Gabe Davis to free agency last month, and more recently, they traded star wide out Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.

That leaves Allen with Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel as his top two receivers, which is not exactly an enviable situation for the signal-caller.

This has led to many wondering just how Allen will handle things next season.

Former Buffalo pass-catcher Cole Beasley took to social media to dismiss a narrative about Allen being “alone” heading into 2024, although he seemed to miss the point.

What Beasley seems to be missing is that the post he was responding to was referring to Allen’s circumstances right now; not the supporting casts he has had in the past.

There is no question that Allen has had some very good rosters in previous years, but this offseason, the Bills have seen a mass exodus of players.

Much of that was due to Buffalo trying to clear cap room in order to get its salary cap in line with league rules. Before the new league year began last month, the Bills released a number of prominent players, and some of their top guys—like Davis and edge rusher Leonard Floyd—signed elsewhere.

On top of that, Buffalo dealt Diggs, which actually resulted in a $31 million cap hit.

Due to the Bills’ financial constraints, they can’t really go out and replace Diggs with a free-agent signing (not there are a whole lot of receivers left) or a big trade. Buffalo will have to rely on the NFL Draft later this month, and you have to think the team will look to add some weapons for Allen.

Josh Allen has led the Bills to five straight playoff appearances and four consecutive AFC East division titles, but it is certainly going to be much more difficult for him to replicate that success next season.
