Despite trading away star receiver Stefon Diggs, the Buffalo Bills remain the favored pick to win the AFC East Division.

However, the outlook for their upcoming season appears less promising, with significant losses during the offseason casting doubt on their ability to maintain their previous level of success.

NFL analyst Craig Carton recently asserted on The Carton Show that the Bills’ Super Bowl contention window has closed.

He went so far as to say that the 2024 season will be a “waste year” for the Bills.

He pointed to the departure of key players such as Gabe Davis, Diggs, and Jordan Poyer, suggesting that the team has been significantly weakened, particularly on defense.

Carton also highlighted the lack of a true top-tier wide receiver and questioned the impact of adding Mitch Trubisky as backup quarterback to Josh Allen.

Furthermore, Carton emphasized the Bills’ constrained financial situation, describing it as “salary cap hell” and predicting limited opportunities for improvement. This assessment aligns with concerns about Allen’s reliance on a strong receiving corps, especially given his tendency to force plays when under pressure, potentially leading to increased turnovers.

Adding to the Bills’ challenges is the presence of Aaron Rodgers and the revamped New York Jets in the same division, posing further obstacles to their postseason aspirations.

Overall, Carton’s analysis paints a sobering picture for the Buffalo Bills and suggests a challenging season ahead for the team.
