The Dallas Cowboys have taken tons of criticism this offseason, and it seems like it’s not over.

During an appearance on the Up & Adams Show, NFC North reporter Carmen Vitali ripped the Cowboys for their lack of activity this offseason, calling them “the biggest gaslighters in the league.”

Vitali blasted Dallas owner Jerry Jones for not committing to quarterback Dak Prescott long term, as Prescott is entering the final year of his deal and doesn’t look like he will get an extension.

She also points out that the Cowboys have not done a good enough job providing Prescott with the weapons he needs for playoff success.

While it’s fair to criticize Dallas for previous offseasons, it’s kind of difficult to rip the Cowboys for what they have done—or haven’t done—this time around.

Dallas entered the offseason with a miserable salary cap situation, and due to financial constraints, it was unable to make any free-agent signings outside of linebacker Eric Kendricks.

Plus, the Cowboys have to worry about paying Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and edge rusher Micah Parsons, so they need to preserve some money for the future.

Dallas has logged three straight 12-win campaigns, but it has not translated into any postseason success.

This past year, many felt the Cowboys were legitimate contenders in the NFC, but they ended up getting routed by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.

That dropped Prescott’s playoff record to 2-5, but to be fair to Prescott, Dallas has not been a good playoff team in general over the better part of the last three decades.

The Cowboys have not made it past the Divisional Round of the playoffs since January 1996 and have collected just four postseason wins during that span.
