Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady recently insinuated he may consider coming out of retirement, and the Dallas Cowboys have already been named as a potential landing spot for him.
Chris Rosvoglou of The Spun put together a list of three teams that would make sense for Brady if he decides to return to football, and the Cowboys made the cut.
Rosvoglou was sure to specify that he isn’t saying Brady should be Dak Prescott’s replacement. He is only suggesting Brady could head to Dallas if Prescott gets injured.
That isn’t without precedent, either, as Prescott played in just five games in 2020 and then 12 contests in 2022.
Of course, things are dicey between Prescott and the Cowboys as it is. Prescott is preparing to enter the final year of his deal, and Dallas seems willing to let him play out 2024 and then test free agency next offseason. Prescott is said to be asking for $60 million annually, and the Cowboys are very reluctant to pay him that much.
Brady last played in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, and even at the age of 45, he was still productive, throwing for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 66.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.7.
Also, the year before that, Brady finished second in MVP voting after leading the league with 5,316 passing yards and 43 passing touchdowns. He completed 67.5 percent of his passes that season, registering a passer rating of 102.1.
Of course, Brady is most known for his 20-year run with the New England Patriots, where he led the franchise to six Super Bowl titles and collected three MVP awards.
He then spent three years with the Buccaneers and guided Tampa Bay to a championship during his first season with the club.
Tom Brady turns 47 years old in August, so the chances of him actually returning to play are probably slim to none. Plus, he is about to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
