Cowboys Linked To Potential Trade For Raiders’ Davante Adams

A year ago, when the Las Vegas Raiders traded for star wide receiver Davante Adams, fans were very excited, and they predicted a run at the Super Bowl for the silver and black.

Instead, the team blew multiple late leads and plunged to a 6-11 finish, which left some of those same fans calling for head coach Josh McDaniels to be fired.

This season hasn’t been better so far — after beating another struggling team in the Denver Broncos in Week 1 by one point, Las Vegas has lost two games in a row and has multiple issues.

The situation led to Adams publicly blasting the organization and its culture. It has led people to wonder if he may get traded or even ask out himself.

If he does, there are already several teams being talked about as possible destinations for him, and one of them is the Dallas Cowboys.

“The Cowboys have built a dominant front-seven that’s capable of stifling opposing offenses and changing the outcome of games, but, Dallas’ offense is still searching for some sort of an identity around quarterback Dak Prescott,” wrote Matt Lombardo of FanBuzz.

“Last season, it was easy to see the tangible impact of losing a deep-threat like Amari Cooper, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns during the preseason. Conversely, pairing Adams opposite CeeDee Lamb, who has caught 19 passes for 273 yards through the first three games of the season, would create one of the more prolific receiving duos in the league and throw open the playbook for Prescott and the rest of the offense.”

During the offseason, the Cowboys acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks in order to take pressure off of Lamb. However, through two games, Cooks has just four catches for 39 yards.

In addition, they have lost star cornerback Trevon Diggs for the season due to a torn ACL. Therefore, if they are to keep their Super Bowl hopes alive, they may have to win more with offense.

So far this season, Adams has 322 receiving yards, which is fifth in the NFL, and three touchdowns. Dallas is just 18th in passing yards and passing touchdowns, and he would give them a huge shot in the arm.

What would it take to pry Davante Adams from the arms of the Raiders? Would Cowboys owner Jerry Jones be willing to pay that price? And would it be enough to deliver the Cowboys their first world championship since the 1995 season, especially given how underwhelming Prescott has been in big games?
