Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders entered Week 4 action against the Los Angeles Chargers with a need for a big win. However, they have to accomplish that goal without starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. In his place, rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell got the start and everyone knew he would rely heavily on Adams in his first career start.
Unfortunately, his security blanket was taken away quickly. In the first half, Adams went down with an apparent arm or shoulder injury. No official update has been given on his status, but things didn’t look great.
One sports medicine physician, Dr. Jesse Morse, revealed that it appeared that Adams could have suffered an AC sprain. If that’s the case, it’s a major concerning update for the Raiders.
If that does end up being the case, the Raiders can only hope that the injury isn’t too severe. Adams has not been ruled out of the game yet, but if Morse’s thoughts are correct, he could miss some time.
Adams has been one of the top wideouts in the NFL for years. He has wreaked havoc on opposing defenses week in and week out. Before going down with the injury, he had yet to make a single catch.
Coming into Week 4, Adams had racked up 25 receptions for 322 yards and three touchdowns for the Raiders.
Over the past year, rumors have been swirling about Adams potentially getting traded. Those rumors picked up in a big way last week when Adams was very blunt about his displeasure with the Raiders’ losing ways. Hopefully, this injury won’t keep him out for long, but a trade could still be in his future.
Expect to hear more updates on Davante Adams in the near future. All we can do is wait and see at this point in time.
