Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Has Chance To Break This Huge NFL Record In 2023

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are set to begin their quest to get back to the Super Bowl and finish the job in the 2023 NFL season. After falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the big game last year, the team has a sour taste in their mouth. The talent is there to not only get back to the Super Bowl, but pull off a win.

A lot of their success will depend on what Hurts is able to produce for them. He has become one of the fastest rising superstars in the NFL and has shown no signs of slowing down.

While team success is all that Hurts really cares about, there is a personal record that he will be gunning for in the first five games of the 2023 season.

If Hurts is able to rush for three touchdowns in the first five games of the season, he would surpass Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns in a quarterbacks first 50 games.

What makes that number even more impressive is that the record does not count those 50 games as starts. It is simply the first 50 games of a quarterbacks career. With Hurts not starting right off the bat but playing sparing time early in his rookie season, this record would be even more impressive to break.

Philadelphia will be an intriguing team to watch offensively this season. The Eagles lost offensive coordinator Shane Steichen to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. It’s likely that the offense will be just fine, but Steichen is known for being an offensive genius around the league.

During the 2022 season with the Eagles, Jalen Hurts ended up completing 66.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also picked up 760 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

Those numbers show how much of an impact Hurts can make on a game and why he has entered the superstar status in the NFL. For Eagles’ fans, he gives them legitimate reason to believe a championship is soon to come.

Expect to see Hurts come out strong to begin the 2023 season. The record is well within sight and it will be interesting to see if he’s able to top Newton’s previous record.
