Eagles’ Shaq Leonard Shares Shocking Thoughts On Future

The Philadelphia Eagles made a big mid-season move to sign star linebacker Shaq Leonard following his release by the Indianapolis Colts. It was a move that was supposed to solidify the team’s defense for another deep playoff run.

Unfortunately, since the big move, the Eagles have completely fallen apart. They went from being the clear-cut number one seed in the NFC all the way to being the No. 5 seed and playing a road game on Monday night in Tampa Bay for their Wild Card matchup.

Leonard has been a great addition for the Eagles despite their failures down the stretch. However, he shared some shocking news and thoughts about his NFL future.

“I think that will be a tough discussion for myself,” Leonard said Friday. “Having two back surgeries, you know, with the back you have to take your time and try to figure this stuff out. You have to see how you look on tape throughout the year. Is it worth (it) to keep going? Are you yourself? Are you a shell of yourself? I have a lot to think about this offseason.”

It’s understandable that Leonard would think about hanging up his cleats after what has been a whirlwind of a past few years.

With the Eagles in five regular season games, Leonard racked up 23 total tackles to go along with a sack. He has been a solid leader for the team as well. It would be a shame to see his career end the way it has gone the last couple of seasons.

Only time will tell what decision Shaq Leonard makes on his playing future. Before all of that, however, the Eagles have a chance to save their season. Beating the Buccaneers would be a big step towards gaining their confidence back and potentially fueling a run in the playoffs.
