Eagles Share Brutal Update On Key Offensive Piece Ahead of Week 16

The Philadelphia Eagles’ losing streak reached three games following their loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football to close out Week 15. It was a tough one as their defense allowed a 92-yard drive by Drew Lock late in the fourth quarter to take a lead.

With three timeouts and only needing a field goal, the Eagles had a chance to send the game into overtime. However, they instead watched Jalen Hurts make an ill-advised throw downfield, which resulted in the game-ending interception.

Now 10-4 on the season, the Eagles have some work to do to win the NFC East, otherwise, they will be the top Wild Card team and face off with the NFC South winner Wild Card Weekend. They will be looking to get on track in Week 16 against the New York Giants, but they will be short-handed during it.

According to Tim McManus of ESPN, the Eagles are expected to be without starting guard Landon Dickerson. Dickerson had to undergo thumb surgery on Wednesday and is expected to miss the team’s matchup against their NFC East rivals on Christmas Day.

NFL News & Rumors: Landon Dickerson, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles Updates

Dickerson played 68 out of 69 offensive snaps against the Eagles, with his only missed play being because of an equipment malfunction. So, news of the surgery and his impending absence came out of nowhere.

Without Dickerson in the lineup, Philadelphia could turn to rookie Tyler Steen. Steen took Dickerson’s place in the lineup for the play that he missed on Monday night and could be tasked now with starting.

With their other starting guard Cam Jurgens already sidelined, the interior of the Eagles’ offensive line could be relying on multiple backups. That could not come at a worse time as they are set to face off against Dexter Lawrence, who is one of the best defensive players in the NFL and right up there with Aaron Donald as the best defensive tackle in the league.

Dickerson is a major loss for the Eagles. He has been excellent in his third season in the NFL, as his run block win rate of 81 percent is first among interior linemen. His pass block win rate of 96 percent is ranked fifth as he gets the job done in every facet of the game.
