Fantasy Football: Buy-Low, Sell-High trade candidates for Week 3

Buy-Low Candidates

Carson Wentz (QB, Eagles): It goes without saying that Carson Wentz has had a horrendous start to the 2020 season. After totaling 13 fantasy football points in Week 1 against the Washington Football Team, Wentz recorded just 12.38 points in Week 2 versus the Los Angeles Rams.

As bad as he’s been thus far, things could be looking up for Wentz with the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense being downright awful. If the Eagles defense continues to play poorly, Wentz will be involved in more positive game scripts and will be throwing even more. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that he gets the Cincinnati Bengals, a less-daunting version of the San Francisco 49ers due to injuries, and the New York Giants in three out of his next five games.

Joe Mixon (RB, Bengals): Joe Mixon was a member of the buy-low list last week and he’ll make another appearance ahead of Week 3. Owners of Mixon continue to panic about his production so far. But there were signs of progression in Week 2.

During Thursday night’s contest against the Cleveland Browns, after catching just one pass in Week 1, Mixon hauled in all four of his targets for 40 yards in Week 2. Once Mixon begins scoring touchdowns and the Cincinnati Bengals realize they can use him on third down, he’ll return to being the RB1 people drafted him to be.

James Robinson (RB, Jaguars): When the Jacksonville Jaguars released Leonard Fournette, everyone was anxious to see who would be the team’s No. 1 back. Due to Ryquell Armstead landing on the COVID-19 reserve list, James Robinson — an undrafted rookie out of Illinois State — has seized the reins of Jacksonville’s backfield. And barring injury, he won’t be losing the starting job anytime soon.

Seeing that Robinson has 32 of Jacksonville’s 34 carries this season, there’s reason to be excited about his role moving forward. Especially if the Jaguars and Gardner Minshew continue to have success on offense. With all of the injuries to running backs, Robinson would be a nice fill-in option that could likely be had for a fairly cheap price still.

Kenny Golladay (WR, Lions): Kenny Golladay has yet to play a game for the Detroit Lions this season and his owners are already freaking out. Having a zero from a wide receiver that was taken in the early rounds can cause some people to overreact to begin the season.

However, Golladay could return as soon as Week 3 and he figures to become the go-to target for Matthew Stafford once he steps foot on the field. Given that, everyone should be sending offers in an attempt to pry the big-play wideout away from whoever has him in your leagues.

Allen Robinson (WR, Bears): Nearly a week ago, Allen Robinson caused a scare for fans of the Chicago Bears when he deleted all of his social media mentions of the team. His decision to do so was clearly contract-related and the Bears have yet to come to terms with the Pro Bowl pass-catcher.

Nevertheless, in the first two weeks of the season, Robinson has seen 18 targets, which is 28 percent of the team’s target share. While he’s only been able to turn those 18 targets into eight receptions for 107 yards and zero touchdowns, it’s likely that his efficiency improves and he begins to find the end zone in the near future.

A.J. Green (WR, Bengals): Watching Thursday night’s game between the Bengals and the Browns was rough if you are an avid fan of A.J. Green like myself. The seven-time Pro Bowl receiver would convert on just three of his 13 (!!!!!) targets for 29 yards in Cincinnati’s loss to Cleveland in Week 2.

There’s a chance that all of the injuries he’s sustained in his career have taken a toll on him, causing him to play uncharacteristically. On the other hand, there’s part of me that is holding out hope that he gets on the same page as Joe Burrow and begins capitalizing on the opportunities he’ll see in a pass-heavy offense.
