Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 6

WRs to start in Week 6

Ravens’ Marquise Brown (vs. Eagles): This seems like as good a week as any for Lamar Jackson and Baltimore’s passing attack to figure things out. The Ravens will square off against an Eagles’ defense that has surrendered 1,334 receiving yards, which is the 12th most in the NFL.

More specifically, this is a week where we could see Marquise Brown explode for the Ravens against a mediocre Philadelphia secondary. So far this season, the Eagles have given up the seventh-most fantasy points per game to WRs (42.94) and have seen 15 targets to WRs in the red zone (third-most in the NFL).

As for Brown, unlike a season ago, he’s currently the leading target-getter for the Ravens with 36 targets in the first five weeks. He’s averaged 16.2 fantasy points in the past two weeks and he should be able to post similar numbers in Week 6 versus the Eagles.

Cardinals’ Christian Kirk (vs. Cowboys): The Dallas Cowboys are forced to go from Dak Prescott to Andy Dalton due to Prescott’s season-ending ankle injury. While Dalton is arguably the best backup option in the NFL, the Cowboys’ defense isn’t going to be any better than it has been throughout the season.

Dallas has been one of the worst defenses in the league, allowing 248.6 passing yards per game (13th worst in the NFL) and are giving up an average of 36 points per game (worst in the NFL). Given that, Christian Kirk and the Arizona Cardinals should have plenty of opportunities to score in Week 6.

Kirk is seemingly getting healthier since missing Week 3 with an injury, receiving 12 targets in Arizona’s offense in the past two games. The vertical threat out of Texas A&M should have success versus a Dallas defense that is conceding 9.5 yards per attempt to WRs (tied for sixth-most in the NFL).

Steelers’ Chase Claypool (vs. Browns): It was a breakout party for Chase Claypool in Week 5 versus the Eagles. The rookie wideout for the Steelers notched 42.6 fantasy points as he tallied 116 scrimmage yards and four total touchdowns.

Claypool proved last week that he is more than capable of being the No. 1 WR for the Steelers if they need him to be. And there’s no reason to believe he’ll slow down against the Browns in Week 6.

Cleveland’s defense has surrendered 1,016 yards (third-most in the NFL), eight touchdowns (second-most in the NFL), and 46.86 fantasy points per game to WRs (second-most in the NFL). Expect to see another stellar showing from the first-year wideout that many are calling “Mapletron”.

Other WRs to consider in Week 6: Lions’ Marvin Jones (vs. Jaguars), Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman (vs. Bills), Vikings’ Justin Jefferson (vs. Falcons), Jaguars’ Laviska Shenault (vs. Lions), Falcons’ Russell Gage (if Julio Jones is out vs. Vikings)

WRs to sit in Week 6

49ers’ Deebo Samuel (vs. Rams): The San Francisco 49ers appear to be having a massive Super Bowl hangover, suffering injuries across the roster, and are faltering on both sides of the ball. What is even more concerning is that the 49ers may have a QB problem after benching Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 5 while San Francisco was getting blown out by the Miami Dolphins.

The uncertainty at QB is something to keep an eye on and it should make everyone hesitant to start any WRs on the 49ers in fantasy football. Deebo Samuel individually has yet to get into a rhythm this season and it’s hard to believe he’ll do so against Jalen Ramsey and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.

The Rams have been the best defense against WRs this season, giving up only one touchdown and 26.44 fantasy points per game to the position.

Bengals’ Tee Higgins (vs. Colts): Besides Claypool, Henry Ruggs, and CeeDee Lamb, another rookie WR that is beginning to make a name for himself is Tee Higgins. Over the past three games for the Cincinnati Bengals, Higgins has accumulated 13 receptions for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

Also, after seeing 24 targets in Weeks 3-5, Higgins should see an increase in usage with A.J. Green set to miss time with a hamstring. Although, you may want to temper expectations for the Clemson product as he prepares to take on the formidable secondary of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts have held opposing WRs to 684 receiving yards (fourth-fewest in the NFL) and 7.8 yards per attempt (sixth-fewest in the NFL).
