TEs to start in Week 11
Browns’ Austin Hooper (vs. Eagles): As mentioned above, the Browns don’t have an offense that asks Mayfield to put the ball in the air often. But without Odell Beckham Jr. in the offense, Mayfield is relying on Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper in the passing attack.
Before Cleveland’s tilt with the Texans in inclement weather in Week 10, Hooper had three consecutive weeks of 10+ fantasy points before missing two games with an injury. The free-agent acquisition should be able to get back on track against the Eagles, who have conceded 15.38 fantasy points (fourth-most in the league) and have allowed 53 of 66 targets (80.3 percent) to be completed to TEs this season.
Washington’s Logan Thomas (vs. Bengals): When Washington was forced to go from Allen to Smith, some believed that their passing attack would decline. However, Smith has thrown for over 300 yards in back-to-back games — albeit he’s averaged only 4.4 intended air yards per attempt in his last two games.
Amid Washington’s resurgence in the passing game, Logan Thomas becomes an interesting option in fantasy football. Thomas could have a notable performance against the Bengals, who are conceding 16.27 fantasy points (second-most in the league) and six receiving touchdowns to TEs, which is tied for the third-most in the NFL.
Other TEs to consider in Week 11: Eagles’ Dallas Goedert (vs. Browns), Falcons’ Hayden Hurst (vs. Saints), Steelers’ Eric Ebron (vs. Jaguars), Saints’ Jared Cook (vs. Falcons)
TEs to sit in Week 11
Packers’ Robert Tonyan (vs. Colts): Earlier this season, Robert Tonyan appeared to be evolving into one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite options for the Green Bay Packers. From Weeks 2-4, Tonyan caught five touchdowns, totaling 60.3 fantasy points in that span.
However, since Week 5, Tonyan has scored more than six fantasy points just twice. With Allen Lazard set to return and the Packers implementing other TEs in their offense, Tonyan’s value in fantasy football is drastically declining. Not to mention, he faces a Indianapolis Colts defense that is the only defense in the NFL that has yet to allow a touchdown to a TE this season.
Colts’ Trey Burton (vs. Packers): At the same time, the Packers have been strong against TEs this season too. Green Bay’s defense has limited TEs to one touchdown (tied for second-fewest in the league) and 7.99 fantasy points per week, which is tied for the fewest in the NFL.
With that in mind, Trey Burton is worth inserting on your bench this week for the Colts. Burton is splitting targets with Mo Allie-Cox and the emergence of Michael Pittman could lower Burton’s usage moving forward.
