Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 7

TEs to start in Week 7

Lions’ T.J. Hockenson (vs. Falcons): Similar to Stafford, I had T.J. Hockenson as one of my favorite tight end options in fantasy football in Week 6. The second-year tight end caught Stafford’s lone — and surprisingly first career — touchdown of the game.

Despite finding the end zone, Hockenson managed to score only 9.7 fantasy points, which is the second-lowest week he’s had this season. Luckily for Hockenson, he gets to go up against the Falcons this week, who have surrendered 20.97 fantasy points per game (second-most in NFL) and nine yards per attempt (tied for fourth-most in NFL) to TEs.

Browns’ Austin Hooper (vs. Bengals): Finally, after disappointing earlier in the season, Austin Hooper seems to be getting acclimated into Cleveland’s offense. After garnering 10 targets in the first three weeks, he’s accumulated 23 targets in the past three weeks for the Browns.

Hooper has been able to turn those 23 targets into three consecutive games of 10+ fantasy points. There’s no reason to believe he can’t make it four straight weeks as he takes on a Bengals defense that has given up 404 receiving yards (third-most in NFL) and 16.42 fantasy points per game (sixth-most in NFL) to TEs.

Other TEs to consider in Week 7: Chargers’ Hunter Henry (vs. Jaguars), Giants’ Evan Engram (vs. Eagles), Cowboys’ Dalton Schultz (vs. Washington)

TEs to sit in Week 7

Rams’ Tyler Higbee (vs. Bears): Tyler Higbee was a popular name among fantasy football pundits during the offseason due to his breakout performance in the second half of the 2019 season. By simply seeing he’s the eighth highest-scoring TE in fantasy football right now, you’d think Higbee was a consistent source of production for the Rams.

On the contrary, outside of his 28.4-point performance in Week 2, Higbee has failed to see more than four targets and hasn’t reached the end zone since. Sadly, his woes will likely continue against a Chicago defense that is hindering TEs to a success rate of 49 percent (tied for eighth-lowest in NFL) and only three touchdowns.

Seahawks’ Greg Olsen (vs. Cardinals): There was once a moment earlier in the season when it appeared that Greg Olsen would be a viable fantasy football option with the Seattle Seahawks. The veteran tight end scored 11+ fantasy points in two of his first three games in Seattle.

But in the past two weeks, he’s totaled 11.5 fantasy points, and he continues to have an inconsistent target share alongside Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. If you’re holding out hope for Olsen, this isn’t the week to play him as he squares off with the Arizona Cardinals, who are giving up 11 fantasy points per game (14th lowest in NFL) and 5.7 yards per attempt (sixth-fewest in NFL) to TEs.
