Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 9

WRs to start in Week 9

Bears’ Allen Robinson (vs. Titans): Some people may be hesitant on playing the WRs on the Chicago Bears due to the abysmal play from Nick Foles. Foles has thrown six interceptions since Week 4, which is tied for the league-lead in that span. Nevertheless, Allen Robinson continues to be a consistent bright spot in Chicago’s offense. Robinson has seen seven or more targets in seven out of the eight games he’s played in this season. He also faces a Tennessee Titans defense this week that has allowed 124 receptions and 46.77 fantasy points per week to WRs (both are second-most in the NFL).

Steelers’ Chase Claypool (vs. Cowboys): I shouldn’t need to explain myself on why you should start Chase Claypool everywhere you can. All I should need to say is that he faces the Cowboys and there should be no questions asked. There’s no reason why JuJu Smith-Schuster, Claypool, and Diontae Johnson can’t all be relevant in fantasy football in Week 9 against a putrid Dallas defense.

Lions’ Marvin Jones (vs. Vikings): Upon the absence of Golladay in the Lions’ offense, Marvin Jones will likely assume the role as Stafford’s go-to target in the passing attack. Jones is coming off of his best performance in 2020, posting 18.9 fantasy points versus a tough Indianapolis Colts defense. The veteran pass-catcher will look to continue his success in Week 9 against a Minnesota defense that is conceding 46.23 fantasy points (third-most in the NFL) and 15 touchdowns to WRs (most in the NFL) this season.

Other WRs to consider in Week 9: Steelers’ Diontae Johnson (vs. Cowboys) Cardinals’ Christian Kirk (vs. Dolphins), Patriots’ Jakobi Meyers (vs. Jets), 49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk (vs. Packers)

WRs to sit in Week 9

Giants’ Darius Slayton (vs. Washington): It’s hard to trust any of the pass-catching options on the Giants in fantasy football due to the inconsistent play from Jones. But the one WR with a solid ceiling in New York is Darius Slayton. Slayton has caught four of Jones’ seven passing touchdowns this season and has four weeks where he scored double-digit fantasy points. Sadly, he faces a surpassingly good Washington secondary in Week 9 that is limiting opposing WRs to league-lows in fantasy points per game (25.69) and receiving yards (929) this season.

Cowboys’ WRs (vs. Steelers): On the other end of the spectrum, while Pittsburgh’s WRs are in smash spot, the WRs of the Cowboys are in an opposite position. Without Prescott throwing the ball, Dallas’ passing offense is not trustworthy as they’ll start either Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush in Week 9. As talented as Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup are, I wouldn’t blame anyone for benching all of them in fantasy football this week.
