Former NFL QB Shares Glowing Thoughts On Caleb Williams, Bears

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

Former NFL quarterback David Carr is sold on Caleb Williams as an NFL quarterback prospect. Carr thinks Williams will work out well with the Chicago Bears.

Amid all of the negative reactions to the Bears likely selecting Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, it’s good to hear a different opinion. Carr may not have had a successful NFL career himself, but he does know the game well.

Here is what Carr had to say about the fit between the Bears and Williams:

Throughout the 2023 season with the USC Trojans, Williams put up another solid season. It wasn’t the year that many were expecting from him, but it was still a good year.

Williams ended up completing 68.6 percent of his pass attempts for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He also picked up 136 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.

After trading Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bears are going to be under a lot of scrutiny. Caleb Williams will have a lot of eyes watching him and just waiting on him to struggle. Hopefully, Williams will give the Bears a long-term franchise quarterback that they have been searching to find for years.

Chicago going out and trading for star wide receiver Keenan Allen shows a strong commitment to giving Williams more weapons than they have given other quarterbacks. The duo of Allen and DJ Moore will be a great tandem for Williams to start his NFL career.
