The New York Giants surprised a lot of people with their performance during the 2022 regular season and those surprises continued during Super Wild Card Weekend. The Giants pulled off the upset by defeating the Minnesota Vikings and will look to keep their improbable season going next weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles.

One of the biggest reasons that the Giants were able to beat the Vikings was the performance of Daniel Jones. He had a record-setting performance in his postseason debut, becoming the first player to throw for 300+ yards and throw 2+ touchdowns with 70+ rushing yards.

It was a truly impressive performance when taking into account the lack of household names around Jones at the skill position players. Outside of running back Saquon Barkley, none of the key contributors on offense are players that a casual football fan would know.

During the regular season, the Giants had one of the least prolific passing offenses in the NFL, ranking 26th in yardage and 24th in touchdowns. Barkley tied with Richie James for the team lead with 57 receptions and Darius Slayton led the team with 724 yards. Unheralded Isaiah Hodgins tied with James for the team lead with four touchdown receptions.

All of them stepped up in the playoff game against Minnesota, which the Giants won 31-24. Jones was slinging the ball and many people are excited about what is to come once general manager Joe Schoen begins upgrading the roster. Wide receiver is a position he will look to upgrade this offseason and one player to keep an eye on is DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals.

Hopkins is reportedly being made available by the Cardinals this offseason and there should be plenty of suitors. A former NFL executive that spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes the Giants will get involved.

“There are a handful of teams that will be in the mix (for Hopkins). One team that I can guarantee will be in the mix is the Giants. New York will be looking to add firepower to their offense and Hopkins is at the top of their list.”

Hopkins would provide Jones with a bonafide, go-to No. 1 receiver to help elevate this offense, bringing them to another level. He has struggled to stay on the field in recent seasons, but when active, he remains one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
