The fun is over for Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Now, things are getting serious.
Following an impressive first three weeks of the season in which Love led the Packers to a 2-1 record, including a thrilling comeback win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3, Green Bay has now lost back-to-back games to fall to 2-3 on the year.
On Monday night, the Packers’ offense was largely held in check in a 17-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, and during the defeat, Love went 16-for-30 with 182 yards an three interceptions in what was his worst outing of 2023 thus far.
Afterward, Love was clearly frustrated.
“It’s tough because we had opportunities to win it and we couldn’t do it,” he said, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
That is certainly true. It’s not like Green Bay was blown out or anything. It lost by four, and it actually had a three-point lead very early in the fourth quarter before Raiders running back Josh Jacobs punched in a touchdown at the 14:56 mark.
Neither team scored a point the rest of the way, so the Packers’ defense did its job. The offense just did not return the favor.
After throwing seven touchdowns with just one interception over the first three weeks of the season, Love has thrown just one touchdown as opposed to five picks over the last couple of games.
On the season overall, Jordan Love has totaled 1,083 yards while completing just 55.6 percent of his passes. He owns a passer rating of 77.3.
The 24-year-old is in his first season as Green Bay’s full-time starter after Aaron Rodgers and the club decided to part ways back in the spring.
The Packers will look to end their recent skid when they battle the Denver Broncos next Sunday.
