Packers Land Tee Higgins In This Blockbuster Trade Proposal

Could the Green Bay Packers be making plans to acquire Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins?

Sayre Bedinger of Lombardi Ave lays out the possibility.

Bedinger proposes that the Packers swing a draft day trade for Higgins, suggesting that Green Bay trades its second-round pick and a future selection in exchange for the star wide out.

Higgins requested a trade from the Bengals last month after Cincinnati slapped a franchise tag on him. Clearly, Higgins was not thrilled with the move.

The Bengals have until the middle of July to reach a long-term agreement with Higgins, but based on Cincinnati’s financial constraints moving forward, that may prove difficult.

Not only are the Bengals paying quarterback Joe Burrow $55 million annually, but they also have to worry about extending fellow receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who became eligible for a contract extension this offseason.

This could mean that Higgins’ days with Cincinnati are numbered.

Of course, the Bengals do not have to meet Higgins’ trade demand and could bank on him signing his franchise tender. That would then give the team one more year to contend for a Super Bowl with Higgins before potentially allowing him to walk next offseason.

But if Cincy does place Higgins on the trade block, an aggressive Packers front office may decide to make a serious push for him.

Green Bay already has an impressive stable of young receivers, but with Jordan Love blossoming before our eyes and the Packers resembling legitimate contenders heading into next season, general manager Brian Gutekunst and Co. may decide to try and pull the trigger on Higgins.

The Packers did, after all, sign running back Josh Jacobs to a surprising deal in free agency, so it would not be surprising to see them take a swing on Tee Higgins, as well.
