Packers Receive Concerning Injury Updates On Jones, Watson

Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, Packers

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for Week 2 action on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, all eyes are on their injury report. While their Week 1 victory over the Chicago Bears was impressive, they did pay a bit of a price. Christian Watson didn’t end up playing in that game, but the big injury was Aaron Jones pulling his hamstring on a massive touchdown reception in the second half.

Looking ahead to this week’s game, Jordan Love may be without two of his top weapons.

Adam Schefter of ESPN took to Twitter to reveal that both Jones and Watson still aren’t practicing. That is not a good sign for their potential availability in just two days.

If the two players are unable to play, Love would be under much more pressure against a Falcons’ team that beat the Carolina Panthers last week. He performed well under pressure last week, even without his best wide receiver on the field, but Jones was a massive security blanket for him.

Assuming Jones is unable to play, the Packers would lean heavily on AJ Dillon. He put up disappointing numbers against the Bears, managing to record just 19 yards on 13 carries. If Green Bay wants to improve to 2-0 this season with a win against Atlanta, they will need the running game to get going.

On the other side of this news, if Watson is unable to play, it will be the same game-plan as last week. Romeo Doubs does seem to be more healthy than he was last week though, which is great news. Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave would once again be integral to the Packers’ success.

Hopefully, the status updates over the next two days are much better than the most recent. Green Bay would love to have both Aaron Jones and Christian Watson on the field. Make sure to stay tuned as more clarity comes about the injury status of both Packers’ stars.
