The conclusion of the 2023 NFL Season saw the Kansas City Chiefs emerge victorious as Super Bowl 58 champions, leaving the remaining 31 teams to contemplate their strategies for the upcoming year, including the Indianapolis Colts, with aspirations of hoisting the Lombardi trophy themselves.
As teams reset and refocus, sportsbooks have already shifted their gaze towards Super Bowl XVI, unveiling the initial odds for all 32 contenders. Draft Kings, among others, has pegged the Colts with +4500 odds to clinch next year’s title.
However, despite their potential, the Colts find themselves behind 17 other teams in the odds rankings, placing them 10th among AFC contenders.
Interestingly, two of their AFC South rivals boast more favorable odds. Regardless of individual opinions on these odds, the trajectory of the Colts’ 2024 season and beyond hinges significantly on the development and performance of Anthony Richardson.
Shane Steichen and company have to feel good about the future they have laid out for themselves. Richardson showed flashes of stardom in his short-lived rookie season and Jonathan Taylor is locked up long-term.
If the Colts can put together a strong offseason and add more talent to their roster, they could be a sleeper contender. At the very least, a playoff berth should be in store for the Indianapolis Colts in 2024.
