Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence returned to practice on Thursday after missing the previous day due to a sprained ankle, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

It should be noted that Lawrence was practicing in a limited capacity, as he was seen throwing the football and simulating dropbacks. He did not take part in all of the Jaguars’ team drills.

Lawrence suffered his injury during Jacksonville’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this past Monday night. His status for the Jags’ Week 14 meeting with the Cleveland Browns is currently up in the air, but the fact that he was back on the practice field Thursday is obviously a positive sign.

The 24-year-old went 22-for-29 with 258 yards and a couple of touchdowns against the Bengals before exiting. On the season overall, Lawrence has thrown for 3,004 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 67.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 94.4.

Lawrence, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by the Jaguars with the first overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He endured a pretty disappointing rookie campaign, starting every game and totaling 3,641 yards, 12 touchdowns and a league-worst 17 picks. He also completed just 59.6 percent of his throws and registered a passer rating of 71.9.

Then, last year, Lawrence broke out, throwing for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight picks while completing 66.3 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 95.2 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Most importantly, Lawrence led the Jaguars to an AFC South division title and a thrilling comeback playoff win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Lawrence has actually taken a bit of a step back this season, but Jacksonville remains 8-4 and sits one game ahead of the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans for first place in the division.

The Jags are looking to make back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time since 1999.
