The Green Bay Packers have miraculously worked their way back into the NFC playoff picture, having won three straight games to improve to 6-6. With five games remaining in the regular season, quarterback Jordan Love understands what is at stake.
“We don’t doubt anybody or take a game off or anything like that,” Love told reporters on Thursday, via the Packers’ official YouTube account. “We give everybody respect and take it that one game at a time. Our mindset is just to focus and go win every week.”
Love himself has flipped a switch the last several weeks, totaling eight passing touchdowns and no interceptions during the Packers’ recent winning streak.
Several weeks ago, Green Bay looked dead in the water, and many were wondering if Love was truly the franchise’s quarterback of the future. Now, the Packers are angling for a playoff spot.
“We don’t need a reminder at all,” added Love. “We know what position we’re in. Every game is like a playoff game for us. We know [we need] that mentality — we’ve got to win out. So, this team doesn’t need a reminder of that.”
On the season overall, Love has thrown for 2,866 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 61.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.2.
Most recently, the 24-year-old went 25-for-36 with 267 yards and three touchdowns in a surprising win over the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend.
“I don’t even know if guys even notice that,” Jordan Love said of whether or not his team knows that it is suddenly becoming favorites. “Obviously, that’s something that we don’t have any control of. We just focus on who we’ve got this week. We don’t look at who the underdog is or anything like that. We just focus on going out and winning.”
The Packers will aim to continue their winning ways when they take on the New York Giants next Monday.
