Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes certainly seems happy that his team signed wide receiver Marquise Brown on Thursday night.

Following the news, Mahomes took to X to post a quick reaction.

Mahomes definitely has to be thrilled to actually have another weapon.

A lack of prominent wide outs was a huge problem for the Chiefs this past season. Kansas City was still able to win the Super Bowl, but there is no doubt that Mahomes had to work extra hard because of the dearth of talent in the club’s receiving corps.

Outside of Rashee Rice, the Chiefs didn’t really have much available. Justin Watson was nothing more than a decent auxiliary option. Kadarius Toney was a complete bust. Skyy Moore was a big disappointment.

Well, now, Kansas City has added a very legitimate No. 2 receiver to put alongside of Rice.

Brown is coming off of an underwhelming 2023 campaign in which he played 14 games and caught 51 passes for 574 yards and three touchdowns with the Arizona Cardinals, but it should be noted that he dealt with injuries. Plus, Josh Dobbs was his quarterback for a good chunk of the season.

There is no doubt that Brown has talent, though.

Back during his final season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, the 26-year-old hauled in 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.

However, that ensuing offseason, Brown requested a trade because he was dissatisfied with his role in the Ravens’ run-heavy offense.

Baltimore obliged and sent him to the Cardinals, where Brown’s production declined even further.

But Brown will now be entering a terrific situation in Kansas City where he will be catching passes from one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.

Seems like a great gig for both Patrick Mahomes and Marquise Brown.
