Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has had the privilege of playing with some terrific quarterbacks throughout his NFL career, and on Tuesday, he paid Patrick Mahomes quite the compliment.

During his media availability ahead of the Super Bowl this week, Valdes-Scantling spoke on Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes, calling them two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever step on the field.

“I’ve played with the two best quarterbacks to ever play this game, especially when it comes to arm talent,” Valdes-Scantling said, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “Obviously [Tom] Brady has all the statistics, but I think Pat’s getting pretty close to breaking some of those. But when it comes to arm talent, between Aaron and Pat, they’re equal, so having those two guys being my quarterbacks for my career has been nothing but life-changing. I’m grateful for both those guys, I’ve got great friendships with both those guys. I hope I can finish my career with Pat.”

Valdes-Scantling is in his second season with the Chiefs after signing with the club as a free agent in March 2022.

He had a solid debut campaign in Kansas City last year, catching 47 passes for 687 yards and a couple of touchdowns. This year, however, Valdes-Scantling has been disappointing, logging just 21 catches for 315 yards and a score.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Florida, was originally selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Valdes-Scantling spent the first four years of his career with Rodgers in Green Bay, with his best season coming in 2020 when he hauled in 33 receptions for 690 yards and six touchdowns. He led the NFL with 20.9 yards per catch that season.

While Valdes-Scantling is certainly not a No. 1 receiver, he has carved out a role as a solid auxiliary option no matter where he has been.

Of course, it helps to catch passes from Rodgers and Mahomes, as Valdes-Scantling said.

Patrick Mahomes is aiming to win his third championship when he and the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers for all the marbles on Sunday.
