Earlier this season, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce alluded to the possibility of retirement. Back in November, he said he had thought about it “more than anyone could ever imagine.”

But now, it seems like Kelce has had a change of heart.

With the Chiefs getting set to battle the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs this Saturday, Kelce said that he has no plans of retiring following the postseason.

“I have no reason to stop playing football, man,” Kelce said, via Nick Wagner of The Kansas City Star. “I love it. We still have success. Come in with the right mindset, and I just love the challenge it gives me every single day to try and be at my best. Like I said, I have no desire to stop anytime soon.”

Kelce earned his ninth straight Pro Bowl selection this season, hauling in 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games.

The 34-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

An injury knocked him out of his rookie campaign after just one game, but the following year, Kelce demonstrated his phenomenal talent by catching 67 passes for 862 yards and five scores.

In addition to all of his Pro Bowl appearances, Kelce has also earned First-Team All-Pro honors four times. He also set the single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end with 1,416 yards in 2020.

Most importantly, Kelce has helped lead Kansas City to a couple of Super Bowl titles and three Super Bowl appearances.

Travis Kelce definitely says he sees a “new career path” in media, but qualified his statement by saying that will come “so much further down the road.”

The Chiefs went 11-6 this season, winning their eighth straight AFC West division title.
